MPS Construction Sponsors Johnstone Wheelers

In February 2007, MPS Construction became a sponsor to Johnstone Wheelers Cycling Club. MPS Directors, Robert and William Cosh have agreed a three-year sponsorship deal. The proposed new Wheelers’ racing colours will include our company name.

Edge Award Prize Money helps towards Woodturning Centre

In November 2006, MPS won the Edge Learning Employer Award for promoting practical learning which earned a £5,000 prize.

We have used around half of the prize money to create a woodturning centre in our Clydebank Technical Education Centre. It has three modern Record Power lathes and an excellent Record Power chip and dust extraction system.

Kieran and Robert are seen in the photos using the new lathes. We removed the original lathe stands and affixed the lathe beds onto a steel hollow section beam for stability and appearance. This also enabled the dust extraction system and cabling to be installed in a much more efficient and tidy manner. The blue and yellow flexible nozzles are part of the extraction system and can be adjusted for very efficient dust and chip removal.

The pupils also constructed a cupboard to house the chisels, chucks and other woodturning accessories. We have still to install extra down lighting.
