Technical Instructor - Further Information for Applicants

The successful applicant will be a competent tradesperson within one or more of the following trades: Joinery, Painting & Decorating, Electrical Installation, Bricklaying and Plumbing.

The post will involve the preparation and presentation of teaching and training resources and materials, in support of the national Skills for Work programme. Experience of the pilot stages of this initiative would be particularly advantageous to any applicant who has it.

The school pupils will be aged from 14 to 16 and based at one of our existing centres or the soon to be opened centres. However, the appointees will be expected to assist in all aspects of company business, sometimes at offsite locations.

We offer a salary scale rising to £19,000, dependent on qualifications and experience, with a proven pathway to a teaching career through the part-time TQFE teaching course at Stirling University, for suitable candidates.

Other training which our staff are expected to complete (in-house) includes: First Aid, Food Handling, ICT skills (PC passport), Child Protection and Behaviour Management (TCI). In general terms, our staff need to have a very positive attitude towards personal and professional development, demonstrated by enthusiastic participation in all training opportunities presented to them.
